BRO FELIMON ”NONOY” TOGONON Cambodia Visit: 25-31 May,2010

Brother Felimon “Nonoy” Togonon arrived in Cambodia on 25 May 2010.

As usual, I went to receive him at the airport. Brother Gan had already sent me a photo of him so I could identify him upon arrival, though it turned out to be even easier for him to recognize me—a black man among Asians. Unlike the brothers coming from Africa, he had no issues with immigration. He only had to pay the $25 tourist visa fee and was allowed to enter Cambodia.

Afterward, we traveled home and later looked for a guest house for him. Unfortunately, there were no available rooms at the house the Korean missionary had rented for students in Phnom Penh. Nevertheless, he shared meals with us at home. He required some special foods, and I recall him asking my wife, Debora, from time to time to buy bitter gourds for him.

I had heard much about Brother Nonoy even before his visit and during my travels to the Philippines. He is a quiet man who speaks little, but when he opens the Bible, he can speak for hours. He taught me many profound truths from Scripture.

We traveled to Kampong Speu province, where Brother Nonoy spent a few days preaching the gospel in the local church. From there, we continued to another province called Koh Kong, visiting many church groups throughout the area.

Brother Nonoy was always ready to feed the flock. We enjoyed wonderful fellowship with him in all the places we visited in Cambodia, and the believers were greatly blessed. Brother Nonoy is from the Philippines.
