World Peace

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

The summit that could hopefully bring lasting peace in the Korean peninsula took place on the 12th of June, 2018 in Singapore. Politically, Trump invested heavily in the success of the meeting, and many are hoping it will yield dividends as can be seen by the progress made so far. This tells us that dialogue is more powerful than force to solve problems.

Christian News is delighted to report this kind of News. Reconciliation is top of our agenda. President Trump says he would protect Kim Jong Un if North Korea agrees to get rid of nukes and the US has agreed to scrap part of military exercise that infuriated North Korea. God is the founder of reconciliation and the author of peace. When we see all the compromises made by Governments to achieve peace we can only pray and hope for it. Pessimism will not do us any good.  It will be wonderful if the meeting can build a bridge of friendship in the Korean Peninsula.

The United Nations have always tried through the years to build bridges between nations. In some places bridges have been built and in others too bridges are under construction as political agreements are being discussed. It will be wonderful if all the agreements can all be successful and the world be in peace. The UN uses dialogue, diplomacy and other peaceful processes to resolve issues around the world. But where there is no commitment and sincerity the bond can be likened to a bridge made of plastic fabrics.  The result is that it melts up when tension between two Nations heat up and the agreement is jeopardized.

It is hard to believe that the jibes and taunts could converge to a peace meeting with Trump and Kim Jong Un. The two men exchanged fiery rhetoric last year but tensions have since eased, starting around the time of the North’s participation in the Winter Olympics in South Korea in February. Therefore, there is nothing that is impossible to accomplish. A deal will yield many dividends in the Korean Peninsula. Pyongyang also smoothed the way for talks by freeing three American prisoners.  The first-ever meeting of a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader has happened.

“The highly anticipated meeting between Kim Jong Un and myself will take place in Singapore on June 12th. We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!” Trump tweeted.

Wow! World Peace! Doesn’t it sound wonderful? When I think of all the pain and suffering in the world, I just want to cry. Now we are hearing of the possibility of a World peace. Is it going to be for real or it is just an Alarm? However, peace begins with you and I and only God can give true Peace. Reflection: 1 Thess. 5:3.
