I cannot help thinking about the Royal Wedding beyond the Natural.
Congrats to the bride and groom. I hear Prince Harry has been very much involved in Charity work. I don’t know much about this Royal life. I hope the happiness they share today last forever. All weddings are beautiful but the splendor of Royal Wedding is glamorous. Everything looked great. The dress of the bride, the flowers, the celebrities’ colorful ensembles, the royal carriage, the horses, and you can just name it. How did they earn this status? Well, it can be said that Meghan earned it by getting married to a prince: The grandson of a King so to speak. However, she also had to work hard to earn it to be chosen by a prince. The prince do not just go and choose any person in the streets to marry. They have both worked hard to find each other. Don’t get jealous now you the commoner. There is hope for us to attend this Kind of wedding. You know my name too did not feature in this Royal wedding guest list as Amal and George Clooney, the Beckhams, Oprah Winfrey and other celebrities. I was just watching it too on screen. I wish I was invited. Of course you need to have the right connections and be popular to be invited to such a wedding. But I am not all that unpopular, you know! Do you know I once had 5 likes for my Facebook Photo profile? Yes, I did.
I watched as the celebrities arrived at the church for the ceremony, garbed in their royal best. Much has also been said about Meghan Markle’s wedding dress. One journalist wrote how she sparkled in her Givenchy wedding gown and the designer has been complimented for the outfit. The guests all seemed to be wearing one wedding garment as they reflected a common spotlight of the social status each wear in the hall of fame. The security turned away Princess Diana’s butler. It seems like his mistress has faded out from stardom and he is not in the limelight to wear the wedding garment. Well, that is life. Many of us may not have been able to attend this Royal wedding because the price of the wedding garment must have been too high only celebrities could afford. However, there is a Royal Wedding coming and the wedding garment is free and here it is: Please read Matt.22:1-10.
The King prepared a wedding feast for his son and sent his servants repeatedly to invite the guests but they would not come giving all kinds of excuses and some killed the servants. The king was very angry and passed judgment on the murderers. He sent his servants again this time to go to the main streets and to invite as many people as they find because the invited guests did not deserve it. The guests turned down this Royal wedding, it shouldn’t be you. Hey folks, there is a wedding feast going on right now, therefore let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and the bride has made herself ready (Rev. 19:7) You can ask the security for the wedding garment. He won’t turn you away. You don’t need to be in the limelight. He is the Way the Truth and the Light. Everybody is free to attend: The rich the poor, the famous and the commoner. Yes, the prince do not just go and invite any person in the streets to attend his wedding. I know of only one prince who does that – the Prince of Peace. Please read Matt. 22:11-14.
The king went in to look at the guest and saw a man who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked the man how he got in there without the wedding clothes. The man said nothing and told his servants to tie him and throw him out. You don’t want to go to any feast and crash – especially a Royal Wedding. The humiliation can be dire. You need to be recognized and accepted by the King. You need to be in the wedding Garment. Please read the following extract from Charles H Spurgeon 2024:
“I noticed among enquirers who came to see me afterwards, a desire to know about the wedding garment; for they feared lest, in coming to join the church, they should come like the man of whom I shall now speak. Many true hearts are extremely sensitive to the impression of fear, and they seem to be on the watch for reasons for anxiety. I do not condemn them; on the contrary, I wish there were more of such holy tremblers. It is much better to be afraid of being wrong than to be indifferent concerning what you are. I perceive among the very best of the saints a considerable number who are deeply anxious concerning their state before God. Those who will one day be cast out of the wedding feast are feeding themselves without fear, while those who have the most right to enjoy the banquet are full of gracious anxiety. Solomon says, “Happy is the man who always fears”: he will cling closely to his God, and that will make him happy; he will not run risks like the presumptuous, and so he will be happy. Holy fear spreads few banquets, but it takes care that when there is a feast we go to it in a wedding garment.
My chief object this morning will be to allay the fears of gracious ones. If they understand what the wedding garment really is, they will probably discover that they are wearing it; and, if not, they will know in whose wardrobe that garment of joy is to be found, and they will gladly ask to be arrayed in it. May the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, give a wedding joy this morning to each wedding guest, by causing him to see for certain that he is clothed in the wedding robe. The simple delivery of the invitation set a difference between the loyal and the rebellious — a distinction most marked and decisive. So it is in the preaching of the gospel: we preach it to every creature within our reach.
This coming in to see the guests indicates a glorious revelation of himself. Beloved friends, you know better than I can tell you when the King is near, and you know sorrowfully when he is not in the assembly. Alas, from how many congregations is he absent, and that absence unmourned! When the Lord is gone we spread our sails, but there is no wind: we bring the sacrifice, but there is no fire. The wedding would have been a failure without guests; but what would the feast have been if the host had refused to come in and see the guests? But the King came in in due time. Indeed, came in among that crowd of wayfarers gathered from the highways at a moment’s notice, and his presence crowned the festival with honour and rapture.”
O there is a wedding garment much precious than any other. It is made of fine linen and the designer has been congratulated from generations to generations . It doesn’t wear out. It is affortable to the poor and the rich. In fact it is free. You just need to ask the gate keeper. You don’t have to crash in this wedding. Everyone has been invited. However, it seems as if not everyone will like the food. The spiritual food that will revive the soul and clothe the word bride in the wedding garment. Behold the bride groom cometh! (Matt 25: 6b) The marriage of the Lamb is here. O What a wedding feast. Are you a guest in this Royal wedding? Are you wearing the wedding Garment?
